With so many political manoeuvrings going on at present, its looks like some people know more than the rest. Bersatu is undergoing a massive leakage of parliamentarians. Its not hard to write them off for the coming GE15. They may stall before they start. UMNO is undergoing a full on bloodsport, where the winner takes all. PKR, riddled with party electoral corruption, and the Rafizi return, looks to be pulling in a number of directions.
There is no way we can predict the outcomes of what is going on now behind the scenes. Those playing the game now, may not know what the results will be until it all happens.
GE15 will not be a traditional election, in the sense of the term. It will not be about government verses the opposition. Everyone knows what the potential result will be and is manoeuvring to get the best position of power to negotiate a place in the government after the votes are counted.
The shape is the next government has more to do with what happens inside of UMNO, over the next few months. The cyber-troopers are out in force destroying the image of current prime minister Ismail Sabri, to ensure he won’t be prime minister after the election.
Meanwhile, the Pakatan cluster of parliamentarians who are loyal to Anwar Ibrahim are being led to wherever he can anchor them to, be it UMNO, Bersatu, or mix of something surprising.
Malaysians can be sure the game of on for power. It has very little to do about different visions for Malaysia coming from two different political camps. This time there is no reform Pakatan Harapan, or Barisan Nasional with an answer to the country’s woes.
Malaysian politics has descended to the simple question: Who can be the next prime minister?
Have a look at the following pictures of two prime ministers in waiting.
The GE15 campaign has already started.
Wooing the Indian vote
Officiating the new campus of Yayasan MySkills in Hulu Selangor.
DSAI building up support in Morib.
This is how DSAI like to project himself (Talking on Riau issue).
Najib on his Facebook focusing on bread and butter issues (isu priok nasi).
Najib is making a film too
Najib’s persona of himself (on the set)
With the orang Asli community leaders
With army veterans in his home parliamentary seat in Pekan
Both focusing on the Warga Mas demographic
Anwar showing he can do what Najib does
This is how many see Najib (like it or not)
What we are going to be sure of is that GE15 will be heavily focused on social media. Najib with his 4.6 million followers on Facebook, and Anwar with his 2.0 million and rising followers know this.
It was as if the debate was knowingly staged to enhance both of them.
