Anwar consolidating WEF influence in the top echelons of power
With the pending appointment of Ahmad Zulqarnain Onn as the CEO of the Employees Provident Fund (EPF), the influence of influence of the World Economic Forum (WEF) is being consolidated at the top echelons of government.
The EPF is the 12th largest pension pension fund in the world. It has assets over RM 1.0 trillion. This is part of Anwar’s policy of giving preference to appointing WEF members to the top positions in government and GLCs.
Previously Amir Hamzah Azizan, the previous CEO of the EPF was appointed finance minister II in a cabinet reshuffle last December. Amir is a staunch member of the WEF.
