How do you see the Malaysian economy today? What are your future expectations?
What My Readers Feel About Malaysia: Part Six
“No hope and no future if it continues to be run by the majority race. Look at the GLCs and the big corporations run by them – A shear failure because of racism.”
“Investors are avoiding our country. A simple case is the mm2h fiasco. They are going to Indonesia, Singapore, and Vietnam. More foreign factories are closing down. With no confidence in the current government i do not see any future as the flight of investors will continue.”
“I'm waiting for the situation with COVID to ease so I can go back to Malaysia and withdraw all my EPF money. I'm outraged that Najib took Malaysia to the cleaners and left us with a horrendous bill that we will be servicing forever. I can't understand how we went from being so resource-rich, so endowed with cultural capital to being left behind in the dirt. What did Amartya Sen call it ... the curse of the resource-rich?”
“Expectations? encroachment by Malay interests to seize more of what the non-Malays have in business.”
“Bad, severely undervaluing the talent in the country. Vision 2020 is a pipe dream, a complete farce”
“We have been overtaken by almost everybody in SEAsia. Feeling pessimistic”
“The economy will survive this cos the rank and file civil service still works”
“its getting very bad, I foresee more hardship for those in the lower rung/poor. There will be lots of hardship.”
“We cannot see the light at the end of the tunnel.”
“With much emphasizes on race and religion we will become a failed state.”
“The Malaysian economy is stagnated; what we see/read is not true. No transparency & check and balance. In terms of politics, business, the civil service, education, housing etc. only the ethnic Malays are advantaged through 'affirmative actions'. The other races are on their own even though we pay the same taxes if not more!”
“For the past 40 years Malaysian economy had been hanging on Petronas Tax Contributions since 1980's and will continue as long as oil price is above USD 40 per barrel. For future expectation, I think once Oil price collapse in the near future with Global Green Energy Enforcement (eg Banning ICE Vehicles production) Petornas Tax Contributions may slowly reduced and a lot of Government Budget will probably in high deficit (eg Over Government Staffs Salary - mostly Malays Graduates with Islamic Qualifications) vs Productivity (eg JAKIM and other Islamic related bodies being very costly and unproductive to Malaysia Economy GDP).”
