Isn’t Ketuanan Melayu similar to Political Zionism?
Is Malaysia speaking from a moral high-ground?
Teachers at the boy’s school deleted all the photos that they had shared with parents from their recent Palestinian solidarity activity.
While Malaysians, including school children are demonstrating against Political Zionism, the question has to be asked, how similar of Ketuanan Melayu (Malay Supremacy) to Political Zionism?
Political Zionism is concerned about having a homeland, and protecting the (nation) for the Jewish people. Political Zionism hypothesizes that Jews are the chosen people by Allah (Yahwah), a word that originated in the Hebrew Bible.
Thus, the Jews are the supreme race, and have first preference over land, economy, and prosperity, over other races. This is reflected in their approach to security, survival, and economy.
The three major tenants of Political Zionism are religion, economics, and political governance. Thus, religion is orthodox, the economy is designed to benefit the Jews, and the government is run by a group of the Jewish elite.
The segregation and repression of the Palestinian people is a consequence of Political Zionism. The Palestinians have suffered from land grabs, which displaced them, restrictions to business, and restricted political control. This is akin to colonization, or as some say, an imprisonment of the Palestinians.

This is something Malaysians are absolutely appalled by. The Jewish state is hated for everything it stands for.
However, Ketuanan Melayu (Malay Supremacy) has many outward similarities with Political Zionism.
In the Malaysian Constitution Malays have been defined as Bumiputeras, and the rightful people of the Peninsula they live upon. In practice, the rights of Malays exceed other Bumiputeras, through the use of bureaucratic bodies. The Orang Asli have been regularly evicted from their traditional lands to make way for land developments of crony corporations.
The present evictions of farmers, who have been inhabiting that land for over 70 years in Kanthan by the Perak State Government is a callous act. The mis-treatment of foreign guest workers in Malaysia is another example of the sense of privilege Ketuanan Melayu affords.
The New Economic Policy (NEP) was a scheme to right the economic imbalance between the Malays and other races. The NEP became an instrument of Ketuanan Melayu taking away many rights and privileges non-Malays had enjoyed over decades. Some describe the NEP as a form of apartheid.
Is this a projection of hate for racial groups in Malaysia on the Israelis?
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim is promoting this program, “to teach humanitarian values such as empathy and to defend the rights and freedom of others.”
What makes the NEP more abominable is that it has been used as a cover for corruption and profiteering by the elite for themselve. Not all Malays have the same economic opportunities.
The whole Ketuanan Melayu narrative defies the reality of history within the peninsula over the ages. There is evidence that the peninsula was inhabited by humans long before the Malays arrived in Malaysia. Human presence goes back 60,000 years. The Majority of Malays are migrants to the peninsula, just like other races. The evidence is there, only suppressed.
Islam is now owned and controlled by a divine elite. How Islam is practiced, the rituals used, and words used are all legally regulated. Islam is an institutionalized means of conformity rather than something spiritual. Islam has become embedded within the concept of Ketuanan Melayu.
There are indeed a number of similarities between Political Zionism and Ketuanan Melayu. If there is so much hate towards Political Zionism, this is an opportunity to dismantle what is similar, but goes by a different name in Malaysia. Injustice and repression should be abolished at home, just so things can be consistent.
The only unrestricted items are plastic toy guns that cannot be mistaken for a real firearm. The toy guns brought to schools were not made of plastic.
Where is the prime minister when gross injustices occur in his own constituency?
He is busy at an anti-Israeli pro-Palestine rally in KL. Consistency.

I have followed this issue for 40+yrs from the time it was first mentioned by DrM. Just remember a few points.
1. Ketuanan means 'master'. Malays have taken it upon themselves to bestow this title upon themselves. No one gave it to them. Master means what it means. Non Malays are hambar by definition because they are not ketuanan. So the relationship between a M and a non M is one of master/servant relationship. Remember this.
2. Because of the master status of a M, he is always right. According to DrM(and I have read his statement), if a M has a disagreement with a non M, the M is always right, because he is the ketuanan.
3. Evidence given in court by a M is always accepted as the truth. This is because he is the ketuanan.
4. The most attractive part of this ketuanan policy is that a M can at any time take over the business/assets of a non M. The ketuanan policy allows it. No less confirmed by a M friend who told me he can take over my 'business' any time. When I asked why, he just said one word - "ketuanan". No wonder the Ms love this policy. It gives them the 'right' to M-ise any non M business/assets.
Isn't this fascism?
