Madani government pulling all stocks for coming state elections
Rolling out the propaganda and taking court action against critics
We are now less than a month before 6 critical state elections. The results of these elections will determine the legitimacy of the Madani government and could even determine if Anwar Ibrahim’s administration survives a full term in office.
Pouring out the propaganda
Pakatan Harapan have come a long way in 15 years. Before the 2008 general election, PH could only effectively utilise the fringe of the alternative media. Now the Madani government us working through those journalists loyal to Pakatan operatives, and news portals which have been set up for the purpose of disseminating information and propaganda favourable to the unity government.
Looking at the Malaysian online media today is reminiscent of what the pro-Barisan Nasional media looked like 15 years ago.
Pakatan now control much of the cyber-space, along with a sophisticated network of cyber-troopers and trolls influencing discussions.
Using the legal system as a weapon
The government appears to be strategically using the legal system to silence those activists who have been critical of state-based projects. Through agencies or other proxies like GLCs, summons are being issued left, right and centre against critics. These have been usually for defamation, but now summons  are asking courts to grant injunctions to stop activists and candidates in the coming state elections from discussing particular issues.
There appears to be a lot of politically motivated legal actions taking place these days.
Madani has created an effective censorship weapon, where local media portals are reluctant to publish many stories. Â Â
A government that censors its critics has a license for every atrocity. This is the beginning of totalitarianism. There has never been a government that censors its people that was good.

In truth there is nothing new to this type of campaigning anywhere. Falsehoods and foreign scripted media lines and "stories" dominate the media landscape.
These including those stroies perpetuated by low level low intellect " ïnvestigative journalists" funded by local politicians and their cronies. This is not a staple of UMNO or their "cybertroopers""and "trolls".
Even these terms like cybertrooper and trolls are an import from Regime Change script writers. They are very subjective terms used in the pejorative by all sides who disagree with their adversaries.
An honest forensic examination of the media styles in Malaysia will show that much of the hyperbole on all sides of the spectrum has been playing to a very typical pseudo intellectual Malaysian middle class polity, devoid of any depth in their thinking. And that unfortunately represents a very large portion of the sample.
The spolier all along has been the Chinese in every form. The DAP leading these with their disruptive propaganda supported by Singapore and the US.
Today this role and space has been captured and is dominated by PAS. PAS which is neither pro nor anti UMNO, Chinese or Indian, is simply a political party when viewed through a Malay Muslim prism. It is something that represents the long denied and suppressed aspirations of the vast majority of Malays cutting across the so called secular lines of politics.
Anwar is mindful of the thin ice his platform is built of. And he is doing what Anwar has done all along. Anwar is being all things to all people. A populist but inherently dangerous strategy. Sitting on a razors edge.
Khairy Jamaluddin and other deserters from the sinking UMNO Malay flagship will find no comfort in PAS when PAS reveals its real strength and bears its fangs.
No one can stop its advance for a number of reasons. The first and most critical of these is their betrayal by the wealthy elite of the UMNO classes. They discarded and stepped on the rural Malays since Merdeka.
The promise of respect for religion, tradition, language, customs, prosperity and sovereignty has long been denied the Malays (especially those living in the hinterland and not fully educated).
In its place were institutions and benefits carved out of legislation and meant to be set aside exclusively for the benefit and protection of Malays but in truth managed by westernized Malay leaders, their rulers and channelled to a constituency of urban Malays and their Chinese handlers.
What awaits these trecherous princelings of UMNO and other Malays institutions is the sword and sheild of Islam. And can we blame the majority of Malays for their radicalsim today towards PAS?
