Most of the mainstream media no longer carry any balanced view of Malaysian current affairs
MCMC blacklist in operation
Comment: If you gaze through the daily news portals, more and more news is missing. Columnists are becoming much more restrictive, and any news from opposition parties is almost totally absent, unless its favourable for the government. Now news portals are giving out ‘daily doses’ of Anwar Ibrahim’s tours de jour and accomplishments.
New editors must now follow directions of the minister of communication Fahmi Fadzil. They must also adhere to a ‘blacklist’ effectively controlled by the MCMC. Just recently a number of NGOs were added to the list. Very few new portals will now carry any press statements from that organization.
So, the bottom line for Malaysians, they are no longer getting balanced news. Views outside the government are now taboo. I personally feel we have gone back to the ‘good ole days’, where if RTM didn’t bring the news up, then it didn’t happen (officially).
Malaysian press freedom has now sunk down to the depths of Singapore and Cambodia. If you want to rubbish me, just wait and see the 2025 RSF press freedom rankings next May.
Here’s a piece of news you won’t be able to read very easily in Malaysia today. I don’t think anything will come of it. The report has probably gone into the dust bin, and I can assure you that there will be restitution against the person(s) who made the report.

Police Report Filed: Na’imah Khalid Blows the Whistle on Anwar’s Alleged Corruption and Abuse of Power!
Toh Puan Na’imah Abdul Khalid has urged the police to investigate Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, alleging abuse of power, conspiracy, and criminal conduct. Na’imah, the wife of former finance minister Tun Daim Zainuddin, lodged a police report seeking an inquiry into claims made by Bloomberg in a recent article.
The Bloomberg article, titled “Anwar’s Feud with 99-Year-Old Rival Looms Over Malaysian Revival,” alleged that Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief Tan Sri Azam Baki received direct orders from Anwar to investigate Daim, former Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohammad, and his sons. It further claimed that Azam’s term as MACC chief commissioner would be extended in exchange for acting against Anwar’s political opponents.
Speaking to reporters after filing the report, Na’imah called for a criminal investigation into what she described as a conspiracy involving the abuse of state institutions. “We want a full investigation into the abuse of power, conspiracy, and criminal conduct by Anwar Ibrahim. These actions represent a deliberate targeting of political opponents, using state institutions, as revealed by the Bloomberg report,” she stated.
Na’imah emphasized that the allegations in the article are serious, demanding immediate scrutiny. She cited Section 23 of the MACC Act 2009, which governs the abuse of power, as one of the legal frameworks under which Anwar’s actions should be examined.
She further explained that while her husband could not personally file the police report due to his health, he is prepared to cooperate fully with the investigation and provide a statement to the authorities. Daim, 85, has long been a prominent figure in Malaysian politics and business.
The charges against Na’imah and Daim, both facing allegations of failing to declare assets to the MACC, have raised questions about political motivations. Na’imah maintained that the charges were part of a larger scheme orchestrated by Anwar to undermine his political rivals. “It’s no secret that Daim and I have been subjected to politically motivated investigations and baseless charges instigated by Anwar Ibrahim,” she claimed.
She also referenced Anwar’s past conviction for abuse of power in 1999, suggesting that his current conduct reflects a pattern of behavior. “Anwar’s abuse of power is nothing new. He was convicted in 1999, and that conviction still stands. But he has clearly learned nothing from it. He remains a repeat offender, now occupying the highest office in the country,” Na’imah remarked.
In a sharp rebuke, Na’imah warned Anwar against what she called his tyrannical behavior. She invoked a quote from Mahatma Gandhi, a figure often referenced by Anwar: “Anwar likes to associate himself with Gandhi. But he should remember Gandhi’s warning to tyrants—'For a time, they seem invincible, but in the end, they always fall.'”
Na’imah’s lawyers, Rajesh Nagarajan and Sachpreetraj Singh Sohanpal, accompanied her during the filing of the police report.
Both Na’imah and Daim have pleaded not guilty to the charges against them. Na’imah faces accusations of failing to declare 12 assets, including luxury cars and properties, while Daim is accused of not declaring a bank account, seven vehicles, 38 companies, and 25 properties. The couple maintains that the investigations and charges are politically driven, with Daim’s bail set at RM280,000 and Na’imah’s at RM250,000.
The case adds a new layer of political tension in Malaysia, with accusations of abuse of power and politically motivated investigations fueling the ongoing feud between Anwar and his long-standing rivals.
