Now everyone can travel on Thai trains
Richard Barrow’s guide to the new Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal
The old Hua Lamphong central train station in Bangkok has given way to the new Ban Sue Grand train station. This is now the new rail hub of Thailand. If you travel from Malaysia, Padang Besar, of Hat Yai to Bangkok, you will end up at Ban Sue.
The old Hua Lamphong Central Station
The station is officially known as the Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal, people in Bangkok will know it as Ban Sue.
Richard Barrow, a long time British expat, who has been active on Twitter and other social media disseminating information to other expats in Thailand, has written a PDF guide to the new station.

Richard is a train enthusiast and I believe is writing a complete book about travelling by train around Thailand. Richard has a website called Thai Train Guide, which is full of information about travelling by train in Thailand.
So, a train holiday around Thailand is a great alternative. First class cabins aren’t as expensive other locations. I fear, when the authorities realize they are under-valued, prices may go up.
If you are thinking of a holiday in Thailand, download Richard’s PDF and visit his website.

However, he does not mention the Vientiane to Bangkok leg of the High-Speed Rail from Kunming through Laos and Thailand terminating at the new Bang Sue station, as expected this year..

Hopefully, is Paetongtarn Shinawatra and the Pheu Thai party she leads wins the election, they will not kill off that HSR which is seen as General Prayut's baby and instead seek to replace it with a Hyperloop or something like that, which would push back the HSR service further.
