Richard Barrow's Singapore-Malaysia-to Bangkok Train Guide
A must read for train enthusiasts
Here is a link to Richard Barrow’s Thailand Train Guide. Richard undertook a trip Bangkok-Singapore-Bangkok by the train networks in Thailand and Malaysia. If you are a train enthusiast as I am you will enjoy reading and find the information Richard has compiled invaluable.
For those Malaysians who don’t know Rich Barrow, he is a long time blogger in Thailand about expat matters, and has over the last 12 months taken a very close interest in trains across the region. Richard is the ‘goto’ man on this issues and very approachable on Twitter (X) at @RichardBarrow
In the Padang Besar to Bangkok leg, Richard covers the 2nd class births. If you are book to book first class, its a whole different experience. The leg Bangkok to Padang Besar would be better 1st class, and Padang Besar to Bangkok better on 2nd class, as you will be able to see all the food at the stops venders will bring on board. I have even seen members of a Malaysian Royal family use the train to Bangkok, as their preference for travel.
Here is the link to his Thailand Train Guide website where you can download his Malaysian PDF.
The different trains through Malaysia are well covered by Richard.

Good news for the trainspotters! And the "royals" who use trains.
Rich would make an even bigger contribution if he spots the paedos, sex perverts, and sex pests from Blighty in Thailand and Malaysia, aye!
Oh, about trains, I prefer the choo choo type, not that I'm all that keen on trains... I've an ex-professional colleague in the UK who lives in a disused rail signal junction. A rather queer character but then them rail enthusiasts are all an odd bunch...
