"Selangor landgrabs": Deep corruption, poor coordination, or misunderstanding
The Federal and Selangor governments need to explain the Selangor Maritime Gateway
· The Selangor State government, through their subsidiary MBI awarded a RM 700m for a river reclamation project, and pays for to the contractor Landasan Lumayan Berjaya Sdn. Bhd. with 600 acres of choice development land land.
· Selangor government claimed the ‘landswap’ in lieu of financial payment was necessary due to lack of federal funding.
· Leaked documents indicate that the ministry of natural resources have allocated RM 690 million has been allocated for flood migration work along the same river.
Caretaker chief minister Amirudin Shari had awarded an RM 700 riverside development (deepening and widening the river) contract to a company Landasan Lumayan Berjaya Sdn. Bhd, a company 55% owned by Berjaya Corporation, and 45% owned by the Selangor state government, through direct negotiation. So technically not a subsidiary of MBI.

Now, the company awarded the tender to undertake the river reclamation work is outsourcing the who contract to a third party, via tender (see below).
The difference between the successful tenderer and the RM 700 million contract awarded by direct negotiation to Landasan Lumayan Berjaya Sdn. Bhd. is a direct loss to the people of Selangor. Why didn’t the state government tender this project out to a company that was actually able to undertake the work? The Selangor state government will make a tangible loss of hundreds of million Ringgit in land given as consideration to a company that is not able or qualified to undertake the project.
600 acres of land are unnecessarily being transferred to a private company.
Caretaker Selangor chief minister Amirudin said the land swap was necessary because the Selangor state government could not obtain funds from the federal government. The plot deepens here. From leaked document, it has been found that the minister for natural resources, environment, and climate change Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad has allocated almost RM 1.0 billion to undertake such work (see letter below), along the same river.
On face value, it looks like the people of Selangor have been sold out, and 600 acres of choice development land will be unnecessarily transferred to private ownership. According to the Selangor EXCO meeting approval of the project, Landasan Lumayan Berjaya Sdn. Bhd., the Selangor government would also exempt the company from paying any land premiums.
The questions Nik Nazmi and Amirudin should tell the public are:
1. If the federal government is paying for the project, why is prime development land still being given to Landasan Lumayan Berjaya Sdn. Bhd?
2. Why wasn’t this ‘late’ agreement by the federal government not made public? (with a state election coming it would have been advantageous for the federal government to announcement they are coming to the party to fund these projects).
3. If these federal grants were good for the state of Selangor, why did Nik Nazmi make police reports against the parties who leaked the documents? Why was Nik Nazmi and Amirudin so interested in covering up this federal assistance?
It looks like the people of Selangor has lost out on RM 600 million of choice development land. Nik Nazmi and Amirudin should explain.

There is no mention of the alleged billions of ringgits worth of tin ore, amang, rare earths etc in the Agreement. This wealth legally belongs to the Rakyat of Selangor and should be safe-guarded and protected from fraud and theft in broad daylight.
