Siem Reap, Angkor Wat & Partytown
A sojourn from Sisisket, Thailand to Siem Reap, Cambodia
We took our cars to the Cambodian border. After entering Cambodia, one really must have pre-arranged transport to Siem Reap. Angkor Wat is really a network of temples, built as monuments to their kings during pre-Angkor and Angkor periods. Fascinating to see, but don’t expect it to grab you spiritually. They are sort of monuments to ego.
If your into temples, ruins, and ancient Asian history, better allocate a week to see Angkor park.
Its probably best unrestored, the small restorations already down don’t look authentic.
Angkor is the prime icon of Cambodia.
There are many five-star international hotels, catering for the Chinese that have still not reopened.
As well are Siem Reap being well provided with markets, the town (small city) is already returning to its reputation as a partytown. Siem Reap truly rivals Phulet, Chiang Mai, and Bali.
