This is the second part of “Two years of Anwar Ibrahim as prime minister” looking at a few social questions.
Should Zahid remain as deputy prime minister?
Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has been acting prime minister in Malaysia for at least 30 occasions, while Anwar Ibrahim was on an overseas trip. Part of the last general election was a plebiscite on Zahid’s popularity, where UMNO lost many seats. After the general election where Zahid played a pivotal role in making Anwar prime minister, Zahid’s popularity rose for a short time. Zahid’s DNAA over his criminal charges helped to make him very unpopular.
This question had 1,490 views and 224 votes. A resounding 82.1% of respondents believed Zahid should not remain as deputy prime minister.
Should the MCMC be closed down?
Censorship is one of the signatures of the Madani government. Malaysia now has one of the most repressive censorship regimes in the world. Press and media censorship is under the prevail of the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC). Prior to November 2022, the MCMC was not known by many Malaysians, now the commission has become a household name.
The question received 1,554 views and 208 votes. 76% of respondents believed the MCMC should be closed down.
Should Fahmi Fadzil resign as communications minister?
Fahmi Fadzil was one of the most libertarians of PKR before becoming the minister of communication and government spokesperson. Now Fahmi is closely associated with the censorship undertaken by the MCMC, and has become the commission’s chief apologist.
The question received 1,062 views and 200 responses. 94.5% of respondents believe Fahmi should resign as communication minister.
Should JAKIM be abolished?
The Malaysian Islamic Development Department (JAKIM) has often been under criticism for its involvement of the Islamization of the nation. This question received only 598 views and 99 responses.
Do you trust the judiciary in Malaysia?
This is a very important question regarding the independence of the judiciary, which has been questioned lately. This question received 491 views and 97 votes.
Should the Special Branch be dissolved?
The Special Branch is the secret service and FBI of the Royal Malaysian Police, all rolled into one. The Special Branch has also been blamed for the disappearance of people. The question received 774 views and 107 responses.
Still so many unanswered questions over the disappearance of Pastor Raymond Koh.
Conclusions
Ahmad Zahid Hamidi according to the responses is a liability for the Madani administration. He is potentially an election liability. The MCMC and Fahmi as a minister is a big blackmark upon the government. This could potentially hurt Madani’s prospects in traditional supporters of Pakatan Harapan. Fahmi may face a major battle to re-win his parliamentary seat in the coming general election. The results also indicate there is a concerning trust deficit about the independence of the judiciary. The Special Branch could become more transparent to develop more public confidence in the institution.

The survey is a reflection of the thinking malaysians who are English speaking and matured in knowing how to access the politics as practice by the current Madani government. On paper the existing government based on this surveys conducted should loss power in the next election.
However, do not underestimate the power of stupidity of the majority of the voters who are not so well informed and possess the acumen to think long term.
To reverse the march of Malaysia into the highway of a failed state, there are particular
areas of reform that are needed to be look into to make this nation progressive and worthy of
praise for good statesmanship.
“The illiterate of the 21st century will not be those who cannot read and write, but those who cannot learn, unlearn, and relearn. ”

He who will not reason, is a bigot; he who cannot is a fool; and he who dares not is a slave. Sir William Drummond (26 Sept 1769-29 March 1828)
. Attachment is the great fabricator of illusions; reality can be attained only by someone who is detached. Simone Weil (3 February 1909 - 24 August 1943)
From the person of PMX, heads of government department, to political appointees to school teachers and civil servants across the nation, there is no short cut to distinction and excellence, if the three skills above are not taught and exercise in our daily living of the nation, the goal to reform will remain a distance dream.
These sample are insignificant and rely on how the questions in the surveys that they surve are shaped.
It was not so long ago that many of Malaysia's so called "pro democracy" movements including churches, the entire racial spectrum of non Malay groups like the Chinese and Indians unequivocally identified Anwar Ibrahim as being the answer to Malaysia's "problems" which included in their demands lifting the suppression of democracy (as they saw it).
Today that same fickle crowd drowning in the river they were led to by the American pied piper of open societies and the Obama White House, curse and spit at the very mention of the name Anwar Ibrahim. The man of their choice.
Malaysians especially the fickle foreign educated ones, (whether through foreign universities, blogs, youtube, alternatives to legacy media) are about as thick as two planks. At the top of that mob, Ambiga Srinivasan, Elizabeth Wong, Teresas Kok and their ilk.
Many of these have received prestigous university degrees from abroad without an education that often goes with it. One therefore has to be able to differentiate between an academic orientation and an education. Most of these haven't had an education at all and from the evidence of the choices they made as they did with Anwar, they remain bloody idiots.
