Almost 50 percent of Malaysian voters will go to the polls tomorrow in Kelantan, Terengganu, Kedah, Penang, Selangor, and Negeri Sembilan. These are important elections, as they will play a major role in political stability/instability over the next four years.
Local candidates
The prime consideration in voting tomorrow is selecting a local candidate who will work for you. Vote for a person who will put your local community first, be available for you and the community, be willing to help constituents with problems, and be an independent thinker.
Look at the individual candidates.
Sometimes, issues like damaged roads need local representatives to get things done.
Good governance
The second issue to consider is which coalition will practice ‘good governance’. Good governance refers to the way a government works within its institutions. How efficient is government? How transparent is government? Does the government follow due process and the rule of law? What is the government’s attitude to corruption? Is the government inclusive and participatory? Is the government responsible and accountable for what it does?
Apply these tests to whichever coalition you plan to vote for.
Policy and personality are one thing, but good governance should be the underlying basis you should decide your vote upon.
Think beyond the politics tomorrow and make your decisions according to what is good for you.
You need representation.

Politics is about power. Power is evil. Everywhere it is the same.
