Who is paying for The Selangor Menteri Besar’s ‘working holiday’ to the US and UK?
Haven’t plans already been drawn up for Selangor’s new stadium?
According to a reliable source within the corridors of power, the designer of the new Selangor stadium Populous, on behalf of MRCB is paying for the Meneri Besar Amirudin Shari’s ‘working holiday’ to the United Kingdom and California in the United States, in a bid to close the deal before the state assembly is dissolved. It is believed Amirudin Shari is visiting Wembley Stadium in the UK, and another stadium in California.
The information provided by the source within the corridors of power indicates that Amirudin will view a model of what the new stadium would look like, before the stadium in Shah Alam is torn down. Amirudin will then join a trade mission to the United States, led by Selangor Exco member for investment Teng Chang Khim. A number of companies on the trade mission are actually state GLCs such as Permodalan Negeri Selangor Bhd, led by their CEO Raja Ahmad Shahrir Iskandar.
Was the Selangor trade mission top heavy with state GLCs?
There seems to be a lot of State EXCOs leaving the country with a state election just around the corner. Ganabatirau Veraman and Rodziah Ismail are off to Canada.
Questions over the Selangor Stadium
Do the political elites really know what the preferences of the Selangor people in regards to the future of the stadium? Many speak of the nostalgia they have over the stadium, seeing a memorable football match or concert there. Many stadiums like the MCG in Melbourne continue to be refurbished to maintain its heritage.

Maybe that would be more preferable to having a replica of another stadium somewhere in California. Building a new stadium with a commercial, hotel, and shopping centre is the more expensive option, at a time when Selangor’s citizens are still finding it difficult to financially make ends meet.
Twisted priorities
While Amirudin is in the UK and US, the residents of Kampong Koskan Tambahan, in Serendah are looking for new houses to live in, as there homes have been demolished, after compulsory acquisition by the Selangor government. The houses 12 families have been living in for 40 years are being torn down this week.
The families were protesting to the Menteri Besar asking for the documents to the houses they were promised in exchange for moving out of the compulsory acquired homes. According to Malaysia Now, the villages said “So far, he (Amirudin) has only made announcements in the media, but there has been no letter to us”.

While Amirudin is dealing over the Selangor Stadium, poor Selangor citizens are being thrown into destitution, due to not following up on promises.

“A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world's greatest civilizations has been 200 years. These nations have progressed through this sequence: From bondage to spiritual faith; From spiritual faith to great courage; From courage to liberty; From liberty to abundance; From abundance to selfishness; From selfishness to apathy; From apathy to dependence; From dependence back into bondage.”

We have been very effectively pacified by the pernicious ideology of a consumer society that is centered on the cult of the self - an undiluted hedonism and narcissism. That has become a very effective way to divert our attention while the country is reconfigured into a kind of neofeudalism, with a rapacious oligarchic elite and an anemic government that no longer is able to intercede on behalf of citizens but cravenly serves the interests of the oligarchy itself. “Democracy is a pathetic belief in the collective wisdom of individual ignorance. No one in this world, so far as I know—and I have researched the records for years, and employed agents to help me—has ever lost money by underestimating the intelligence of the great masses of the plain people. Nor has anyone ever lost public office thereby.”
― H.L. Mencken, Notes on Democracy
“To know and not to know, to be conscious of complete truthfulness while telling carefully constructed lies, to hold simultaneously two opinions which cancelled out, knowing them to be contradictory and believing in both of them, to use logic against logic, to repudiate morality while laying claim to it, to believe that democracy was impossible and that the Party was the guardian of democracy, to forget whatever it was necessary to forget, then to draw it back into memory again at the moment when it was needed, and then promptly to forget it again: and above all, to apply the same process to the process itself -- that was the ultimate subtlety: consciously to induce unconsciousness, and then, once again, to become unconscious of the act of hypnosis you had just performed. Even to understand the word 'doublethink' involved the use of doublethink.”
