Jabatan Kemajuan Orang Asli (JAKOA) is a new name that replaced the previous name, Jabatan Hal Ehwal Orang Asli on 15 January 2011.
The primary goal of JAKOA’s founding was to protect Orang Asli and their way of life from the globalisation, rapid development of civilization and external exploitation, whilst providing facilities and assistance for education, health, and socioeconomic development.
The change of name to JAKOA has broadened its role in the formation of a more progressive and dynamic Orang Asli community, in line with JAKOA’s vision of being a major organisation that excels in advancing Orang Asli community to be on par with the main society.
It can be implemented through an inclusive development approach that includes planned and continuous socioeconomic development, education, health, and human capital development. The goal is to achieve the objectives of increasing income, expanding infrastructure facilities and social amenities, a higher standard of living, producing a new generation of educated and dynamic individuals, and preserving the Orang Asli community’s heritage and culture.

They are free to practise their faith. Their community leader are called Tok Uban and our rep are very protective of them and their land.
Our medical teams visit them weekly via helicopter to ensure they are looked after.
Many foreigners marry them and take advantage of being their husbands such as free land to cultivate and citizenships.
Assistance for their welfare are one of the best in the world.
