If Malaysia cannot plan a progressive secular economy, what makes AI think that an Islam oriented economy will succeed? It all looks good on paper(superficially) but the devil is in the details. Muslims have not shown great dexterity and planning skills for the past 60 years, except for the skills of kleptocracy, korupsi and abuse of power. Malays have also not shown great depth of understanding of Islam(ask syed Akbar Ali). AI has also not clearly defined the roles of non Muslims in such a society. Don't forget, it is the non muslims who provide the country with tax receipts. How do they fit in. From the charts, it looks like they have no role. It is all by muslims, for muslims. Up till now, his planners have not produced anything concrete. These charts are just charts. They do not become reality unless and until the govt plans and puts into action an algorithm. This looks like the MB of Kedah who donned an admiral's uniform while performing an official function. All show and hype with no substance. This has been the character of a Malay centric govt. AI with his Islam Madani will be no different.

Counting on cultural change in Malaysia, or any country for that matter, is foolish. Anything that depends on changing the culture -- really changing it, not just metaphorically -- cannot be directed by plans or agencies. Culture change is organic, it's impossible to direct as a function of government policy.

Also, rationalizing Islamic principles with financial practices is something that can only be done by those who are unlikely to hold any authority in the current government. While the PM gave JAKIM the mandate to chime in on policy we should all keep in mind, as I think you mentioned in this column a week or so ago, that JAKIM has little knowledge or expertise in anything except religion. A religious degree in Islamic studies is practically worthless, let's be honest. Expecting big shots in JAKIM to know anything about economics or finance is expecting too much.

Culture is a lifestyle. In the 70s,no muslim women wear tudungs in malaysia. Today all did. Why? Because when anwar joined the government in 1982, he suggested that women wear tudungs to go to the office. Overtime, all did.

Jakim need to expand its role in view of its new additional responsibilities. This is easy as they can start off by getting advise from islamic banking experts in local, regional and world banks.

Can islamic banking work? Yes. As long as the systems ensure best value for the lender and the borrower.

Anything is better than the current available scam products based on the current banking and monetary systems today.

Madani economics is about a rightly guided wealth creation activities that focus not only on achieving prosperity but fulfillment in life as a whole for everyone.

The Madani economics focuses on good not evil. It does this by guiding its economics based on virtues. These features moderation, justice and fairness, of temperance and the courage to practise it.

The koran holy scripture are its best guide. For example, it is revealed that usury or riba is forbidden while trade and pawning is permitted. Some amount of gains are taxed and distributed to the less able via zakat.

This islamic finance systems is certainly better than the current international finance systems which is a horrible screwed up unregulated scam in a big way.

One cannot have a world where 1% of the population control 99% of the world's wealth.

Larry fink for example control usd 10 trillion in assets or rather under its management via blackrock money mgmt firm. That is 25% of the world's assets.

All in all, the theological aspects of madani economics requires a step by step implementation. It can be done but it cannot be by rafizi 🤣

There are certainly people who know and understand Islamic finance principles and how to put them into practice in a modern world. However, are any of those people in the current government? Can JAKIM offer any advice in this matter? Even if it is possible to reorganize the entire Malaysian economy within an Islamic framework it is daylight madness to think that the issues facing Malaysia economically like corruption and racism will be fixed.

First, theres no rascism.we all eat the same nasi lemak, durians and roti canai. It is just a vote bait.

Secondly, corruption is everywhere. Its hard to stop dap from being corrupt free completely. How do you stop Tony if you in return need his help?

Thirdly, we know the current international finance systems cannot be any worst. How can the US print money as and whenever they want just because you have to buy petrol using their currency?

We need to reset the way wealth are created and distributed fairly. Islamic finance with a touch of madani might just be it.

No racism? You've got to be kidding. Malaysia's entire political system lives and breathes on racism. And to pooh-pooh corruption because it exists in other places doesn't make it less of a problem for Malaysia. It's a gigantic problem for Malaysia.

Malaysia's economic crisis is not a result of a Western economic model. It can switch to Islamic finance if it wants but this is not a solution. It should be noted that there is no one in the current government that could engineer a switch like this.

Malaysia's economy is doomed because of corruption driving out foreign investment along with the numerous internal problems it causes (look at the LCS fiasco), ill-advised and never ending subsidies that it simply cannot afford, and GLCs running far too much of the economy just to enrich select groups. To top it off Malaysians expect far too much from the government in the form of handouts, especially to protected groups based on race and religion.

I think Anwar Ibrahim wants to make changes but so far all he has done is talk about them. Furthermore I'm not sure he knows how or what to change. His government is crippled by having UMNO tied to it like a weight around the neck and this will inevitably cause stability problems in the short term. Things do not look good for the unity government and unfortunately no one in the unity government has tried to do anything about it.

Equilibrium. Everything that we see happen around us are a result of 'balance' or trying to be one.

Anwar is trying to change things but at the same time ensure the country is stable.

This is why while everything that happen can be distilled into precise mathematical equation, unity government has to be careful to introduce new parameters into it.

Anwar need to change malaysia for the better while maintainig stability.

Theres always algorithms that can help him with that, ChatGPT, etc.

Ching Look Seng expresses all of the worries of a kleptocratic, corrupted, greed inspired, selfish and abusive self obsessed Chinese community in south east Asia particularly in Malaysia.

If anything at all, the Malays over decades have acted generously and understanding to an extent it has been to their detriment and given rise to Chinese power in South East Asia.

In fact Anwar's rise to power was driven by Chinese dissatisfaction over their desire for absolute control of the riches and the resources of the Peninsula then Sabah and Sarawak. Their history in the region and abroad has been characterised by their greed. their lust for material wealth at any cost, their immorality (their idea of dexterity and flexibility) and their betrayal pf anyone in pursuit of money and power for themselves exclusively.

Sadly they and the middle classes of Indian society in Malaysia took their contempt of Malays one step too far this time. They rooted for Anwar Ibrahim and his world bank backers.

Anwar appears to have played his cards well. He concealed his real political objectives under the cloak of democracy and pluralism, secularism and independence well enough to fool these non Malay, non Muslim sectors of Malaysia.

But serves them right. Anwar's wife Wan Aziza Wan Ismail warned in an interview with journalist Medhi Hassan on Al Jazeera of Anwar's and her intention to turn Malaysia into an Islamic state. No one believed her. Bersih the "Champions of "democracy" and "freedoms of expression" and of secularism (American style of course) has remained deafening silent on Anwar's volte face on these fundamental matters. But who amongst the Malays care. At the end of the day they are Anwar's constituency. In that respect he is one with Mahathir, Tun Razak, Hussein Onn and Tengku Abdul Rahman. Blood is after all thicker than water.

Traitors like the Malaysian Bar, Bersih, the DAP, the Christian pro American lobbies all got what's coming to them. But they are all in denial. The latest is that this is social media hype driven by Anwar's enemies.

Each of the Malaysian Bar, C4, Bersih, all of those NGO's and journals funded by George Soros did nothing to enhance the hopes and aspirations of those fools who even went as far as putting up a "Virgin Mary" in a building in Kuala Lumpur to con the public the Virgin Mary was also on Anwars side. Divine intervention prevailed in the end. But not for them but the Malays and Muslims. Perhaps God is Muslim after all.
