Someone was very kind to nominate me for the 2024 ICFJ Knight Award for journalism. For this I thank the readers so much. I have never dreamt of such an award. It was far from my minds when I started this Substack. Being nominated is already an honour. Once again thank you.
Each year, ICFJ honors two outstanding winners for their pioneering coverage or media innovations which have made a significant impact on the lives of people around the world. Candidates can be reporters, editors, technologists, media managers or citizen journalists from countries where they face major challenges doing their work. Award winners receive a trip to the United States, where they will be honored at ICFJ's Tribute to Journalists on November 14, 2024.
The Knight International Journalism Awards have been the centerpiece of ICFJ’s annual Tribute since 1998, honoring journalists and media innovators who show extraordinary courage in bringing vital information to audiences in countries beset by conflict and press freedom challenges. Recipients of the ICFJ Knight International Journalism Award are reporters, editors, technologists, media managers or citizen journalists who, despite difficult circumstances, produce pioneering news reports or innovations that make a significant impact in their countries. See past award winners.
The Award, supported by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, reflects the mission of ICFJ Knight Fellowships: to instill a culture of news innovation worldwide. The goal is to seed new ideas and services that deepen coverage, expand news delivery and engage citizens in the editorial process. The fellowship program is supported by Knight Foundation, with additional funding from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

Congratulations Murray! Your courage in journalism has not gone unnoticed.
Ain't the award supported by the same lot of shady and shifty right wing fascists of "media moghul" bros John and James Knight, add population-reducing philanthropists Bill and Melinda Gates?
Ask Mullah Anwar and Jesus, what would they do with the Award - or even just the pat on the back?
I'm not sure about Jesus but Dear Mullah might be happy if he would just be nominated...
