Your assessment on the SG4 is absolutely dot on. The socio-economic potential of the SG4 is great if backed by the US/West, Japan, S. Korea, Taiwan. India, and the Middle East with pukka good governance as its theme. First, eco-tourism is the fastest to take off for jobs, revenue and development bolstered by the establishment of institutions related to the hospitality, catering, handicrafts trade, hygiene etc. Second, the integrity and professionalism of the SG4 will attract domestic and foreign investments. Third, infra-structure developments here will be cheap and feasible I) A Japanese style country railway with container facilities connecting the SG4. ii) Reclaim the sea off Kota Baru to create flood free Kota Baru II with perks like a seaport iii) Water and land resources available. In effect a land-sea corridor created between the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand . If the SG4 Leadership is sincere and willing, the sky is the limit for them or let their rivals eat cake ! Fourth, if these folks can pull in not only real Malay elites but also the non-Malay elites, the SG4 will go places in good time. As it is said, ' It's the digits, not the money or the song ! Fifth, the Kulim Airport development is a key ! Sixth, water resoueces and power resources enhanced. Sixth, an oil pipeline between Kedah and Kelantan is creme de la creme. Fast to build. cuts the sea journey between East and West by 1,000 miles. Everyone loves a winner, MH !.
