Why is it important for US to control Malaysian Airports & Ports?
For the longest time, Malaysia has always refused to allow US to set up a navy base here, which the US needed to park their maritime and other military assets near the Straits of Melaka which then lets them control (and if needed) choke supply of oil and other imports from the west to China & Russia.
Despite pressures and coercion from the US, Malaysian governments would not risk it by taking sides, or antagonizing China or US. So, Malaysia remained, neutral.
Until now. With the impending sale of MAHB shares to American company, Blackrock via Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP) - the US will finally have information, if not full control, of Malaysian airspace.
This is even more strategic than building a navy or air base here. MAHB operates 38 airports all over Malaysia including in the rural areas, it's akin to having 38 US-controlled air base and watch towers in one of the most strategic trading routes in the world.
The best view in South East Asia! Next, US will attempt to buy shares in Malaysian consortium in ports around the country. That's another milestone in US' warfare with the eastern super powers that is China and Russia.
